Produced by farmers of the Wotona Bultuma Cooperative and processed at the facilities of the SCFCU, or Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union. Ethiopia's SCFCU, second in size only to the Oromia Union centered in Addis Ababa, represents close to 100,000 small-scale farmers and almost 50 cooperative unions. Nearly all coffee produced by the member cooperatives is shade grown in low densities under the canopies of indigenous trees and enset (false banana), a staple food crop. Members of SCFCU have been growing and processing fine Sidamo type coffee for more than 30 years, and export their world famous product directly to overseas buyers. Sidama Union produces approximately about 10,000 tons of high quality Organic Arabica beans per year, 95% of which is washed.
Tastes profiles in our lighter roast range from Meyer Lemon to peach and apricot. The body is silky and sweet with a clean finish. Very distinctive and quite different from our fine Yirgacheffe coffees, and one of the most intensely satisfying pourover cups we offer. Lovely as single origin espresso as well.
