From the Kianjuri Cooperative , we got an exclusive West Coast distributing opportunity from Star Coffee Kenya and proprietor Benjamin Mutiso. Benjamin has been ahead of the curve and the Kenya Coffee Exchange, securing top pre-auction lots for close to 40 years. This AA selection is all SL-28, the Kenyan varietal which flourishes in the vast cultivation area around Mt. Kenya. The Co-op grows this fully-traceable coffee in the Meru District and subsequently processes at the Ithima Washing Station (this lot in early March 2014). In the cup it is action-packed, large beans evincing vanillin (think Orange Julius powder), pomelo fruit and Dutch process cocoa. Exciting as single origin espresso and pourover, one of the most balanced,outstanding coffees we've had!
