Bolivia Organic Peaberry CENAPROC

Here we have a fabulous certified organic offering from Bolivia Fair Trade® CENAPROC (Central Asociados de Productores de Café), formed in 1992 with the help of USAID. This fully washed coffee of the Typica varietal hails from the area surrounding the city of Caranavi in the Yungas region, which is a abundant rainforest rich with flora and fauna. Grown between 1600-1750 meters above sea level, this select Peaberry evinces the hallmark chocolate and fruit notes which have always distinguished the best Bolivian coffees. CENAPROC beans were top prize winners in past Best of Bolivia cupping competions (sadly ended in the early-2000s). The Coop now has 204 members, of which 20% are women. Each smallholder producer has around 9 hectares of land under cultivation, which is located
in shady forests. CENAPROC has organized the independent small grower
colonies and provides large-scale coordination and commercialization. To
prevent the beans from molding, they now process and dry their coffee
before it is transported over the Andes to La Paz and Peruvian port cities. The Coop also grows bananas, citrus, corn and vegetables for consumption.
