Weinland CD release concert, Badbeard's WEINMARK coffee TBF(featured)

by badbeard 8. April 2009 15:47

What, you didn't know that Weinland's amazing new album "Breaks in the Sun" is getting its birthing partay this weekend at Mississippi Studios in Portland???!!! Get on it!  Tix are blitzing out this week...Saturday night, April 11, two shows...doors at 7.  I'll be playing on a few tunes with the bros...Check out the bar and think past the PBRs for a microsecond...there'll be a large quantity of Weinmark served, and the barfolken promise to come up with some special drinks.  Weinmark, of course, is Badbeard's band tribute coffee, a sumptuous melange of world-class java processed with near-copious quantities of our favorite whiskey.  Somewhere there's an archival CDBaby newsletter opining that Weinmark is the year's most unusual merch table offering.....and locally speaking (we're in PDX...is there anything NOT about local??) sales of bags of Weinmark generate proportional $$$$ for our favorite local, non-profit teen-mentoring organization, p:ear (www.pearmentor.org)  So pick some up and enjoy, support Weinland and p:ear simultaneously. The CD's fabulous, and if you have yet to experience Weinland in concert, NOW'S THE FRIGGIN' TIME dudes!

WEINLAND end-of-tour concert in Portland at the Aladdin Theater

by Admin 30. June 2008 21:12
What a friggin' great show, credit to all the bands appearing despite veritable exhaustion and enervating hot heat in PDX all day.  There's no place like home, clearly, and the embrace of our local fokels is immense, life-giving.  A total thrill to be onstage with these bands, and thanx to all who invited our (Portland Cello Project quintet) participation and collaboration, which will be eternal.  Norfolk & Western predictably awesome, A Weather fabulous (first time hearing 'em live).  The now-legendary Shearer tour experiential rant-o-spew-arama was like a fragrant bourride of Spalding Gray, Belew's Neurotica, and Trouble from Music Man, unforgettable.  Not even Corey duBrowa's excellent review in today's Oregonian could capture the essence.  Rock on, dogs!

Weinmark and WEINLAND make the WWeek poll

by badbeard 9. May 2008 10:56

Willamette Week is SO on top of the scene, putting The Oregonian to serious shame in that department, although kudos to Luciana Lopez for her astute covering.  One of these days we'll meet, as promised mutually...but a nice stroke for us of Portland Cello Project to see a bunch (4) of our fave collaborators make WWeek's top 10 local list

http://wweek.com/editorial/3426/10966/

I'm still amazed that Amy McCullough and gang had the foresight to arrange the video of the Weinmark coffee cupping with mbilly (scrolldown the article).  It is no surprise that Adam sold out all of the special java on their recent NW tour...what better way (outside of buying La Lamentor and other releases, of course) to take a piece of the band home....

Weinland CD release

by badbeard 3. March 2008 11:17
Nice to see a wildly successful CD release party for a well-deserving troupe of great folks and musicos.  I'm still unsure, having played two shows at Doug Fir and seen countless more, how they can improve the sonics, but it would be nice considering the quality acts that perform there.  La Lamentor is an excellent album and so glad Adam and gang got to perform in front of such a great crowd.  Get the Molasses out and go buy the damn CD already!  And in August you'll get to hear the cover of Gold with Adam fronting us folks in Portland Cello Project.  Great job Doug Jenkins and Heather Broderick repping the heavy-bass (er, cello) set.
