Sumatra Mangkuraja Estate

TIP: You can save products to your favorites list if you log in Estate-grown Sumatra has become rarer over the years so we are happy to offer Mangkuraja,a proprietary melding of wet-hulled process Bourbon, Catimor and Typica varietals. Most of our traditional Sumatras have come from the Northern part of the island but this one is from the Lebong Regency within the Bengkulu Province in the southern part of the island. Consequently the port of call is Lampung rather than Medan, whence most fine Sumatras.
The “autonomous” Mankuraja Estate comprises 370 tropical acres of shade trees and averages about 1200 meters. They have their own milling operation, which allows for meticulous cherry selection, milling and drying, the last being done, atypically, on raised beds. The cup profile shows tropical fruit notes of kiwi and mango as well as robust molasses, cocoa, vanilla and licorice. The thick-bodied cup will come in either a pourover or straight espresso prep.
