These exceptional coffees…usually represented at Badbeard's by Red, Yellow and Pink Bourbon, Geisha but also high-quality natural decaf and some conventional blends…are containerized and shipped directly to Portland and elsewhere in the US. Cupping scores at origin are always 85 and above but IMHO score higher here. The current Yellow Boubon just received today, 11/27, comes from producer Libardo Piedrahita Santa at his Finca La Esmeralda, in the village of Villafatima, Pitalito municipality. Sr. Santa has been growing for 15 years and tends about 20,000 shrubs at 1750 meters of elevation. During harvest season (September-November) only ripe cherry is picked, washed, fermented for 28 hours and then sun-dried. This microlot of 100%Yellow Bourbon evinces notes of citrus/orange, mango, pineapple, sweet. Prefer pourover methods for brewing, but acidity is not so high that espresso is not an option for our light-medium roast profile.
