Burundi Gahahe Organic Microlot

TIP: You can save products to your favorites list if you log in This outstanding microlot takes its name from the washing station Gahahe in the North Burundi micro-region called Kayanza. The bulk of the washed green coffee represented here is Bourbon, and the balance two Bourbon mutations, "Jackson" and "Mibirizi". Average elevation for the growing area is 1800 meters above sea level. The fully-washed coffee is dried on raised African beds.
Coffee farming and production has quite literally saved many of Burundian lives following the 12-year-long civil war which ended in 2005,and is a key factor in the country's economic recovery. The vast bulk of green production is de facto organic.
The cup profile of our light-medium roast includes a very interesting and rare note of Curaçao liqueur and Mandarin orange, accompanied by a rich mouthfeel and chocolately finish. Tanzania and Ethiopia....watch out!
