NOTE: All of our premium Arabica coffees are roasted to City+ to Full City roasts, showing minimal-to-no surface oils….we want all of the flavor to stay in the beans until the coffee is ground! Despite the additional descriptors, the first flavor and aroma you'll think of is "COFFEE".

Kenyan growers had a somewhat off-year owing to extreme climate swings at important points in the harvest cycle., and roasters all over have scampered to get ahold of good merchandise the last month or so. A nice fruity beefy-bodied cup of washed Kenya is a great treat and why we decided to buy our microlot Rathugati AA. Producer Rutuma Amalgamated Farmers' Co-Operative Society Limited now has seven wet mills, including the Ruthagati Factory in the Mathira region of Nyeri County, whence this syrupy and fruity cup. Red, ripe SL28 and SL34 cherries were selectively handpicked and were delivered for wet milling the same day. The parchment was fermented, washed and sun dried on raised beds, and the dry parchment was then milled and bagged for export.
Body in this cuppa is unusually thick for a washed Kenya and yet a relative fruit bomb, heavy with black currant, blackberry, maple syrup and a floral nose. As such we're roasting it for the sweet side, light-medium, a touch into first crack. Nice acidity prevents me from recommending it for straight espresso, personal preference is towards drip methods. Won't be around long!

The infamous coffee-bean cleaning-machine Jacu bird from the Amazon
If your coffee tastes like s--t, don't blame the Jacu bird! This infamous Amazon bean-machine beak-selects each coffee berry at the peak of ripeness and leaves just the beans, somewhat clean and green, behind...so to speak.
"I just read your article in the Oregonian and I felt inspired to buy a pound of your Symphony blend; I love it! Thank you for awesome coffee without the hype. "
