NOTE: All of our premium Arabica coffees are roasted to City+ to Full City roasts, showing minimal-to-no surface oils….we want all of the flavor to stay in the beans until the coffee is ground! Despite the additional descriptors, the first flavor and aroma you'll think of is "COFFEE".

Yet another outstanding Specialty Grade 2 Washed Yirgacheffe came our way this week, from the Pride Mill, managed by Mr. Ato Zodi, a veteran hand in the Gelana Abaya woreda (district) Great timing, as the long-held stash of Keffa YirgZ had just left the building! This is a complex, highly aromatic gem which will yield powerful drip and espresso experiences. For the lighter-to-medium roast the cupping notes included cracked black pepper, honeysuckle, cocoa, lemon zest. Please specify (there's ample space in the Notes tab of the checkout page) when ordering for espresso, which is a medium roast to get the most chocolately/lemony shots, if so desired. The light-medium roast for drip also produces luscious espresso.
Location might “be everything” in Ethiopia, but it's also complicated…technically the provenance of this coffee is “Pride Mill, Gelana Abaya woreda, Yirgacheffe town, Semolo Village, Borena Zone, Oromia Region”. Got milk?!

Barista extraordinaire Tyler Hauptman of Portland's Sweet Masterpiece Chocolates demonstrates how to prepare a proper latte using Badbeard's Symphony! blend coffee.

Exceptional Mexico Alfred Klein Finca San Carlos arrival.. Mexico, so near and dear to my heart after a near-decade living there in the '90s, produces a lot of good coffee, most of it exported. Occasionally it's exceptional, like the newly-arrived (7-7-17) washed Finca San Carlos. My buds and savants at importer Royal Coffee have been after me for years ...more

Symphony Latte, by Tyler Hauptman of Sweet Masterpiece
Barista Tyler Hauptman of Sweet Masterpiece (Portland, OR) shows off his chops on Badbeard's Symphony blend coffee.
"After we switched to Badbeard, no one in our office can abide any other coffee. We are currently finishing off a recent roast of Mexican Terruño Nayarita, certified organic, sustainably harvested coffee from El Malinal, on the slopes of Cerro San Juan. Badbeard's roasting profile brings out a full, rich flavor, laced with citrus notes, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, and birch bark. Spices, grilled meat, and a hint of a tobacco note round out the finish. This is a coffee that rewards the taster every time. "
