NOTE: All of our premium Arabica coffees are roasted to City+ to Full City roasts, showing minimal-to-no surface oils….we want all of the flavor to stay in the beans until the coffee is ground! Despite the additional descriptors, the first flavor and aroma you'll think of is "COFFEE".

Ok, so what's in a description of Ethiopian coffee? In the pre-ECX (Ethiopia Coffee Exchange) era, a designation might include the sub-region, town, and actual farm name. Nowadays many of the pooled lots of parchment coffee which go through the auction have a "generic" tag like this one...Grade 2 washed...which have no specific attributes other than the quality-by-defect and/or size grading. Importers buy the coffee based on cupping of pre-shipped lots, and occasionally there are true standouts, like this one. I'm calling it special because it is one of the most exceptional I have tasted in years, jam-packed with fruit and richness in the cup. This is Sidamo region coffee at its finest in any preparation.

Barista extraordinaire Tyler Hauptman of Portland's Sweet Masterpiece Chocolates demonstrates how to prepare a proper latte using Badbeard's Symphony! blend coffee.

Badbeard's special coffee/beer collab debuting at 2016 Portland Winter Ale Festival Most beer lovers have come across the occasional bottle with coffee as a prominent "flavorer", usually in heavy Stouts or Porters. My friends at powerhouse Worthy Brewing in Bend decided to go in a new direction for their debut "French Press Dark Saison" offering for the 11/30-12/4 Holiday Ale ...more

Colombia Pink Bourbon falls into the former category...a naturally-occurring mutation of Yellow and Red Bourbon grown on ...more

"I just now finished a cup, no pot, of that wonderful coffee you sent me. First of all wanted to thank you very much for doing that. I am honored you value my opinion. But then again I have ben interested in coffee at an early age. I was a regular at McNulty's in the Village. I think the last time I can remember getting excited about a coffee bean was tasting coffee from China. But this one even more so. I wish I could tell others of my find but not many people I know are "into" coffee like I am. So I report back to you now. The first sip was so much like the tasting of a fine wine. You know that the next taste would only be better and from there you savor every swallow. So in ending this letter I did not like it. I loved it!!!"
