NOTE: All of our premium Arabica coffees are roasted to City+ to Full City roasts, showing minimal-to-no surface oils….we want all of the flavor to stay in the beans until the coffee is ground! Despite the additional descriptors, the first flavor and aroma you'll think of is "COFFEE".

Our experiences with the prestigious small-holder developer and exporter Nigusie Lemma group in Western Ethiopia has been awesome. Even more striking is the fact that this coffee is milled by legendary Abdullah Bagersh of Idido Misty Valley fame! The natural-(dry-)process coffees from the mill are among the cleanest and defect-free we've ever seen from Africa, and an indicator that the Direct Trade Specialty traders have gotten around the restrictive ECX (Ethiopia Coffee Exchange)with a vengeance. We can't imagine this coffee becoming part of a larger, nondescript parchment lot...it's too special! The body is great; thick and creamy. We are doing a lighter roast profile to highlight the abundant fruit notes. The recently-offered Nigusie Lemma Djimma sold out so quickly we felt it necessary to bring in this fab coffee ASAP! Limited supply available...100 lbs.and counting!

Tomorrow 5/30/13 welcoming Rwanda Gitesi washing station excellence! A limited offering of an exceptional coffee from Rwanda, bringing back memories of the Rwabisindu we had a couple of years ago. This joe is a rock star...like our Kenya Ruera Estate, smack-in-the-face citrus notes yet intrinsically sweet.

Unique S.O. Brazil espresso in house today! Welcome mat rolled out today for the biodynamically-produced, organic certified Fazenda Floresta from Bahia State in Northeastern Brazil. Doesn't get much better for single origin espresso cravers.

And the juicy Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Blue Nile back in stock, fresh crop just off the boat, ...more
Serving up Badbeards Coffee at Buzz:Killer Espresso
How to catch a Badbeard buzz at Buzz Killer Espresso in Chicago.
"...this morning I arose early to grind, press, and sample the El Salvadoran Women's Brew. Wow, what an aromatic and delicious treat! I first noticed a lack of offensive acidity (which is why I did not drink coffee for years), a delicacy and round impression on the palate, wonderful fruitiness, and complex flavors. This coffee reminded me of feminine-style red wines, with understated elegance, finesse, and polish. Some coffees are more about the flavor of roasting, almost a charcoal taste, but this was much more subtle and appealing to me. Tomorrow I will try the Ethiopian selection and let you know what I think. You are definitely on to something special with your coffees. "
