NOTE: All of our premium Arabica coffees are roasted to City+ to Full City roasts, showing minimal-to-no surface oils….we want all of the flavor to stay in the beans until the coffee is ground! Despite the additional descriptors, the first flavor and aroma you'll think of is "COFFEE".

Colombia Pink Bourbon Finca Florida 2018

Pink Bourbon…who knew? Such an anomaly and scarcity that it seldom becomes available, as only a tiny handful of growers in Colombia have ever seen it or tried to cultivate it actively. It's a spontaneous mutation of Red and Yellow Bourbons, and its exact origins, geographically, are still not known. It is apparently quite resistant to the devastating Roya fungus which plagued a good portion of Central America as recently as two years ago. Recovery has been promising. Bourbon varietal has naturally-occurring color variations and appears, sometimes spontaneously, as red, yellow, pink, purple and other similar mixed tones.
Our 2018 Pink Bourbon microlot is produced by farmer Cesar Augusto Yantel at his 15,000 shrub Finca Florida in Acevedo, Huila Department, at an elevation of 1750 meters. Screen size is larger than the fine Yellow and Red Bourbons we've had from our import partner Traviesa Coffee. Very intense coffee…bright, dense and clean. The lighter roast brings out red apple, caramel, long sweet finish and creamy body. Very special coffee, recommended pourover method, but Chemex quite lovely too.

Special microlot Costa Rica Anaerobically-produced excellence Very psyched to have come across this unique coffee and found it to be MORE than everything it was cranked up to be. Producer Luis Campos has taken the super-solid caturra varietal to new heights by anaerobically producing it once it reaches a specific (26 Brix) ripeness on the shrub. Just ...more
New and different Ethiopia natural The Hadeso Natural Grade 1 from Guji just in to take the place of the delicious but all-too-scarce Hambela natural, which was a short-lived hit. We should be presenting the washed Hambela version in October...can't wait! Will post close to its arrival ...more
Meeting expectations and how! The just-arrived  Ethiopia Hamdela natural process and Peru Chasqui new crop are in and really excellent...Hambela a big, sweet fruit bomb, and the Peru even chocolatier and more fruit forward than last ...more
andrea with the goods
Business partner/roaster/barista extraordinaire Andrea Spella has the best espresso in Portland. When we acquired "Rossalina" we knew we were in for an extraordinary ride together.
"I have been meaning to write you to tell you how spectacular the coffee you brought us was. I have never made as good a cup as with those beans! We had a house guest whose husband roasts his own beans and she said this was also one of the best cups she has had. Thanks again!"
